Day Boat Hire Terms & Conditions

Introduction

Thanks for considering spending your day afloat with a day boat from Floating Holidays. A break afloat on the inland waterways and canals is a great way to relax and unwind.

If you have got to this page, then you have either already booked or are considering booking with us and for this we are grateful.

Pricing

Mon – Fri (9am – 5pm) :- £130

Sat / Sun (9am – 5pm):- £175

Evenings (May to Sept, 6pm – 8.30pm):- £65

Additional hours (by agreement):- £20/hr

Skipper hire (9am – 5pm):- £120

Pet charges :- £5 each

Note:- In Winter hirers end at dusk, time to be advised

A £100 refundable security and damage deposit is required in CASH, on arrival

House Rules
  1. The maximum number of persons on board is 10, including children and infants. This must not be exceeded at any time.

  2. The steerer must remain sober at all times (the same as when driving a car on the road), it is an arrestable offence to be drunk in charge of a narrowboat.

  3. Pets are allowed on board, so long as they are kept under good control, there is a £5 per pet charge.

  4. Late return will be charged at the extended day rate of £20/hr and deducted from your damage deposit.

  5. Sorry, we do not accept stag or hen parties and ABSOLUTELY NO BOOZE CRUISES

  6. We reserve the right to withdraw the offer of boat hire to any party whom we deem unfit to take charge of or steer our boat in a safe manner without notice. The safety & welfare of all canal users and the excessive consumption of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited

  7. Any incidence of unruly or unsociable behaviour will result in you being asked to leave the boat immediately & your deposit will be forfeit

  8. If the boat is returned in a dirty or damaged condition, costs will be taken from the security deposit

  9. Dress appropriately for typical English weather, remember it can be four seasons in one day. Your booking will not be refunded if it’s a rainy day.

  10. In cases of severe weather, or other circumstances beyond our control such as canal closures, storm force winds, thick fog or canal iced over, it may be necessary to cancel your booking. An alternative date or full refund of the hire fee will be given, but no liability is accepted for any other loss or expenses incurred

Cancellation

Any bookings cancelled with more than 14 days notice will be refunded less a 20% administration charge. No refunds for any cancellation with less than 14 days notice

Booking Contract

Where your hire boat is operated by another company then your contract will be with that company, Floating Holidays acts as an introducer and marketer for those companies.
